![]() ![]() So, in Step 1, where it states “On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive” the directions need to say what to do there!! Go there and then select whatever email address you want PLUS your phone number. Now, it appears that unless I choose my phone number in that “send & receive” setting, the SMS are not forwarded. My old iPad, which is usually powered off, would get a slew of old messages when I powered it on (it’s the iPad for the young grandkids). If I was out, when I got home, the iPad got the messages. If my iPhone receives an SMS (that’s cell), then if forwards it to my iPad when they are on the same WIFI network. I did not select my iPhone phone number, because I assumed iMessage is sent with WIFI and therefore did not need a cell number. I don’t think iOS before 14.8 or 15 (I’m not sure when the problem actually started, because I did both upgrades so close together) had “Send & receive” with the explanation “you can receive iMessages to and reply from”.
